I’m Loudney Thompson, a wife, a mother and the founder of CiCiLove Curls Hair Studio. 

 

My love for hair started in middle school, where I would do locs on friends and family as a hobby. It became a career when I turned 21. I honed my craft as a hair stylist by working in salons. There, I learned how to cut, color and style all hair textures at a professional level. 

 

During that time, I began feeling less fulfilled in the services I was offering. While clients were always satisfied with their finished look, I struggled to rationalize the use of tools that pulled and damaged my clients' curly hair. I also grew tired of my daughter seeing me straighten hair and believing that to be beautiful, her hair had to be long and straight.

 

As parents, our job is to set the example we want our children to follow, and I wanted something different for them. So in 2015, I decided to focus on offering services that would promote the health and growth of curly, textured hair. I earned two Devacurl certificates as a “Deva Inspired Stylist” and an “Art of Texture” stylist. Because I’ve always had a love for cuts, I also earned my barber’s license in the state of Florida in 2017. 

 

In 2019, I launched CiCiLove Curls Hair Studio, a business named after my children as they are the inspiration behind it: “CiCi” for Ciona and “Love” for Lovell. We provide long term hair care for our clients and teach them how to properly nourish their hair. My hope is that through my studio, I can empower women, men and children to embrace their natural, kinky hair and show my kids that their black is beautiful.
